Western Indiana Community Foundation Awards $10,000 Grant to Support Construction Trades Program

The Attica, Southeast Fountain, and Covington Community Foundations, affiliates of the Western Indiana Community Foundation, partnered to award a $10,000 grant to the Southeast Fountain School Corporation to purchase tools for the WRCTE Construction Trades Vocational Program housed at Fountain Central High School.

Launched during the 2018–2019 school year, the Construction Trades program uses a hands-on approach, allowing students to apply classroom instruction to real construction projects. Through the program, students gain valuable experience in residential construction, tool use, safety procedures, blueprint reading, framing, finishing, and other essential job-site practices.

“Career and technical education programs provide students with opportunities to develop practical skills and explore meaningful career paths,” said Taylor Powell, CEO of the Western Indiana Community Foundation. “We are proud to support the Construction Trades program and invest in resources that will enhance hands-on learning experiences and prepare students for success in the workforce.”
