The Southeast Fountain and Covington Community Foundations are proud to announce a joint grant award totaling $2,500 to the Fountain Aquatic Swim Team (FAST) to support the organization’s upcoming summer swim season.
FAST is a summer swim program serving youth ages 5-19 from throughout the area, including students from Fountain Central, Covington, Seeger, Attica, North Vermillion, and local homeschool families. The team provides a welcoming environment for swimmers of all abilities, while promoting athletic growth, teamwork, confidence, and healthy competition.
FAST practices and home meets are held at the Fountain Central pool, with the team competing throughout June as part of the Prairie State Swim League. Participants receive instruction from experienced coaches while learning the four competitive swim strokes, freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly, in a fun, safe, and supportive atmosphere.
“Programs like FAST provide much more than athletic opportunities,” said Taylor Powell, CEO of the Community Foundation. “They help young people build confidence, develop friendships, learn teamwork, and stay active during the summer months. We are pleased to support an organization that serves so many youth and families across our communities.”
