Vermillion County Community Foundation Grant Supports City of Clinton Fire Department

The Vermillion County Community Foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of a $2,500 grant to the City of Clinton Fire Department in support of its “Protect the Precious” Program. This initiative provides smoke detectors to residents at no cost, helping improve home safety and reduce the risk of fire-related injuries and fatalities throughout the community.

For more than 15 years, the program has distributed over 1,000 smoke detectors to local households, demonstrating a lasting commitment to public safety. As the cost of living continues to rise, many families are forced to prioritize essential expenses, and safety equipment like smoke detectors can sometimes be overlooked. This program ensures that all residents, regardless of income or financial circumstances, have access to this critical, life-saving resource.

“The Clinton Fire Department is extremely grateful for the Vermillion County Community Foundation’s continuing support of our community,” said Chris Strohm, Clinton Fire Department Chief. “The ‘Protect the Precious’ campaign has been proven to save lives within our community. With this generous donation, we are excited to continue to provide smoke detectors to all residents at no cost. We will also be providing smoke detectors to other departments within Vermillion County to help better protect their communities as well. The partnership with organizations like the Vermillion County Community Foundation is crucial in allowing us to carry out our mission of protecting our community.”

Through this grant, the Vermillion County Community Foundation continues its mission of enhancing the quality of life and supporting programs that promote safety, security, and well-being for residents across Vermillion County.
