The Rio Shepherd Health Careers Scholarship Fund has been established to support Attica High School students who live in Fountain County and are pursuing a degree in a health-related field. Whether studying nursing, medicine, mental health, public health, or other health care professions, eligible applicants must show a clear passion for helping others and making a difference in people’s lives.
This meaningful scholarship honors Rio (Robert Ivo) Shepherd, the beloved son of Brian (AHS Class of 1986) and Sandra Shepherd, and grandson of Bob (AHS Class of 1956) and Melinda (AHS Class of 1959) Shepherd. Although Rio’s time on this planet was cut way too short due to medical challenges, he and his family experienced exceptional care from dedicated and compassionate healthcare professionals.
Each year, this scholarship will be awarded to a hardworking, humble, and driven Attica student pursuing a career in health care. It is the family’s hope that this support will help ease the financial burden of education and empower recipients to become skilled professionals who bring healing and comfort to others, just as so many did for them.
