The Vermillion County Community Foundation has awarded a $1,500 grant to support the North Vermillion High School cheerleading program in purchasing new tumbling mats.
This funding helps address a key safety need within the program, ensuring student athletes have a more reliable and appropriate surface for practicing stunts, lifts, and tumbling skills.
“This request is centered around safety and making sure our student athletes have the proper equipment for practice,” shared the school’s Assistant Athletic Director, Joseph Culbreath. “Having a reliable surface for stunts, lifts, and tumbling allows our cheerleaders to train more effectively while reducing the risk of injury.”
Grant funds will be used to purchase a competition-quality mat system designed specifically for cheerleading. The new mats will provide a safer, more consistent training surface and will be easier to set up and store within shared school spaces.
In addition to supporting the high school team, the mats will also be used by middle school cheer, youth programs, and other school-related activities.
