The Vermillion County Community Foundation is pleased to announce the award of a $450 grant to the Clinton Lion’s Club in support of their annual Dictionary Project, which provides personal dictionaries to third-grade students in South Vermillion schools.
Through this project, approximately 140 third-grade students will each receive their own dictionary, and a dictionary will also be provided to each school library. The dictionaries are provided at no cost to the schools, parents, or students, ensuring every child has access to the resource.
The Dictionary Project is designed to promote literacy, strengthen vocabulary skills, and encourage students to explore language and reading both inside and outside the classroom.
Robert Spence, Board Member of the Clinton Lion’s Club and Chairman of the Dictionary Project, shared the club’s commitment to the project, “Clinton Lion’s Club believes all students should be encouraged to read and explore language. The Lion’s Club will be preparing and delivering the dictionaries this fall.”
