Western Indiana Community Foundation to Hold “Passing the Torch” Celebration Honoring Dale White and Welcoming Taylor Powell as CEO

The Western Indiana Community Foundation will hold an open house-style “Passing the Torch” Celebration on Saturday, March 29, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Beef House Banquet Hall to recognize the retirement of longtime Chief Executive Officer Dale White and welcome Taylor Powell as the Foundation’s new CEO. Light refreshments will be provided.

“We are grateful for all that Dale has done for the Foundation during his nearly 20 years in the role,” said Megan Ellmore, Chair of the WICF Board of Directors. “The Foundation has grown tremendously under his leadership.”

White began working with the Western Indiana Community Foundation in July 2005 after a two-decade career serving nonprofit organizations in administration, marketing, public relations, and development in central and eastern Illinois. During his time with the Foundation, its assets grew from $8 million to $49 million, and the organization now manages more than 375 charitable funds. The Foundation has also distributed more than $23 million in grants and scholarships benefiting communities throughout Fountain and Vermillion counties.

White also helped secure more than $22 million in charitable contributions, oversaw the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program, which has awarded full-tuition scholarships to 34 students totaling more than $3 million since 2005, and helped support projects such as the development of the Covington Circle Trail and the addition of the Vermillion County Community Foundation under the organization’s umbrella.

As White retires, Taylor Powell will assume the role of CEO and continue the Foundation’s mission of supporting local communities through philanthropy.

Powell and his family have lived in Covington since 2018. He and his wife, Katherine, are raising their three children locally and are active in area schools and youth programs. Powell has served as Vice President of Marilyn’s Village, President of the Covington Citizens’ Scholarship, and as a member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors and Finance Committee. Originally from Tipton, Indiana, he graduated early from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in December 2017 and began his legal career at Wallace Law Firm in Covington in 2018.

Community members are invited to stop by during the afternoon to recognize White’s service and welcome Powell to his new role. Please RSVP by March 24, 2026, by texting (765) 585-2109 or emailing info@wicf-inc.org.
